Cry The Neo-Anime Forums are now closed. Cry

I have disabled posting and new member registration. Current members will still be able to log in and send/receive PMs (should anyone wish to), but that is the only feature still accessible. I have left everything on the forums themselves intact. If you guys ever feel the urge to dig through the old threads, they will be here as long as SMF for Free is still up and running.

I'm still sorry to see this place shut down, but we've had a pretty good run. Hopefully we'll be able to stay in touch.

Love always,

I've been thinking about re-writing atu or at least writing out the ending when I get some free time.  I think winter break sounds like a good time to crack open my writing chest again

I think Xira and I are both considering a re-write of ATU, as well. It seems like we have a bee in our brains about that RP... and I will admit, it would be nice to see it with a written ending. Especially since we all pretty much know how it would have turned out, with the exception of a few small details here and there that we would have each contributed.

I guess we'll just see what happens. I'll miss roleplaying here, though. You guys really made me love returning to forum RPing, and I had a lot of fun.

I don't use Google+ so I wouldn't know how much of Facebook's new look is a rip-off. Can't really say that I care... I'm not planning on joining any more social networking sites unless Facebook completely craters and I absolutely have to.

Woooow, that's a lot of images. O.o
Collecting them is a really good idea though. I've always just gone to posemaniacs, but their selection of poses is sadly limited, and searching stock on DA take a lot of time and sifting. Maybe I'll borrow your idea of just hording it in a folder for when I need it. ^^;

Just remember that, if you're saving actual stock images, it's a good idea to save the stock artist's name into the title. Some of the stock artists that I like on deviantART have this crappy habit of deleting their work or putting certain pieces into "storage"... but I try really hard to give them credit, so I try to keep track of which work belongs to which artist.

Simply amazing, Kadri. But then I've come to expect nothing less from you. ^^
You always to manage to find amazing stock for reference too. I'm a little envious of that skill. Tongue

Glad you like it. Smiley

I started "collecting" stock a while back... Now, any time I come upon something that I like (a pose, a particular facial angle, an action shot, etc), I save it to my stock folder. And I've gathered quite a few pictures just during the time I started drawing ATU fanart... I've probably got three or four hundred images on my flash drive now, and I'd say at least a third or a fourth of them came from hunting ATU references. Not that I've used all of them--but I found them, so I saved them. It's a handy folder to hunt through when I need some extra inspiration.

I sent you a friend request on Facebook, but they're trying so hard to be Google+ they took out the feature to include a message with your request. So if you see this before that then know that Kaleigh isn't a creeper, she just wants to be your friend. XD

I dislike the "new" Facebook... a lot. Dead

Friend request approved. lol

Yeah... so those two WIPs are still in-progress... >>;

But I'll get back to work on them later today, so (hopefully) I should be able to finish them before the end of this month. I'm feeling inspired.

In the meantime, I finally got around to scanning that picture of Kari... so here it is:

Stock image that inspired this picture:

I finally caved in and bought Jim Butcher's Ghost Story, which is the newest book in the Dresden Files series. It was awesome... but I read it in two days, and now I want more. WRITE FASTER, MR. BUTCHER!!!! D:

I also bought Fragile Eternity, by Melissa Marr (Yes, Vera... I'm finally reading it. XD)... which I have started, but I keep getting distracted from. I should have it finished in a few more days, though, and then I can move on to the fourth and fifth books--which I also have on hand to read next. :D

Home again... hopefully for week or two before Landen has to start the third phase of chemo. It feels so good to sleep in my own bed, instead of the fold-out chair in his hospital room. The house is not so terribly messy this time, which is a real blessing. And I finally feel like getting my sketchbook out and finishing a couple of the drawings that have been sitting in it for the last month--it's a miracle! <3

14  Anime & Manga / General Anime / Re: What are you watching now? on: September 22, 2011, 02:23:48 pm
I need to re-watch YuYu Hakusho... I don't think I've ever gotten all the way through it. I'll have to put it on my "To Watch" list.

At the moment, I'm watching the first season of Full Metal Panic. The last disc in my set went missing a few years ago, and I finally got around to replacing it... so I had to go back and watch it again. Marathon! :D

All of the posts in the Forum Closing thread notwithstanding, your comments here make me really sad.

I honestly hate to shut this place down... For the longest time, I thought that we could keep Neo-Anime alive if I just kept posting, and if I kept encouraging and harassing everyone else to keep posting. I kept hoping that new members would eventually come, if we were here long enough. But this is a free site, so we haven't gotten much in the way of advertisement. If I had the time and the money to sink into online advertising that would bring traffic and potential new members to the forums, things might be different... but I don't have the money to buy ads on Facebook or anywhere else.

If I thought that we had a chance of making it, I wouldn't even think about shutting down. But even the Dojo... the one part of Neo-Anime that has never been without some kind of activity... has been totally devoid of new posts for over a month now. That just doesn't happen here. Ever. So, much as I hate to admit defeat, I think it's time to but NA to bed.

It will be hard for me to break the habit of checking the forums, too. After eight years, I'm not even sure it's still a habit--sometimes it feels more like a compulsion. But I'll leave this place up (like tetsuo13 left up most of the original Neo-Anime) for us to go back and look at later on, so it's won't be completely gone. I guess we're just moving on to a new chapter in our lives. Hopefully the future is a good one.
